A 22-year-old volunteer firefighter in Fairfield County who was killed in a crash over the weekend is being remembered for his dedication, intelligence and sense of humor.
Austin Buoni, a Stratford resident and 2014 graduate of Bunnell High School, worked with both the Shelton and Trumbull fire departments, according to a Facebook post from Valley Fire Chiefs Regional Training School, where Buoni also graduated.
"He was an excellent student, and just a great kid outside of the classroom," the post said. "His passing will be felt by many."
Buoni, who attended Housatonic Community College, worked at Panera Bread for more than a year.
Memorial arrangements have not yet been announced.
